Finding Your Voice: A Contextual Small Group Study
Many people struggle with finding their own voice. Oftentimes, it’s rooted in a variety of internal struggles: insecurity, low self-esteem, or simply the absence of an experience requiring a voice to be heard. This study discusses the meaning and importance of having a voice and explores a variety of styles demonstrated by luminaries in politics, music, and art.
This study seeks to affirm that all of us, as children of God, have a voice. He crafted us uniquely for a specific purpose. Our journey is to learn what that purpose is, and glorify Him through its fulfillment.

This is a lovely outline for engaging the film "The King's Speech" in the context of thinking through what it means to "find your voice" or "have a voice." The author uses a variety of youtube clips, as well as the film itself, to connect with biblical texts.

Brook, thanks for such a wonderful topic! Finding your voice is relevant to people across the lifespan and is a great topic to address in a safe community! It has been something that I have been extremely cognizant of in my own journey right now and this has been helpful to see voice formation in action. I really enjoyed how it brings together popular culture examples with historical examples and biblical examples, showing that everyone's voice is important and that you don't have to be perfect to have a voice (Lord knows Moses wasn't perfect, but perfect for God's mission in the world). The only question this study leaves me with is how will the participants form their own voice? This covers a variety of other people's examples and what can be learned from them but there doesn't seem to be any self reflection structured in. Overall though, great work putting it together and such a prevalent topic!
