When I have done Lectio Divina before I have not experienced it in this way. In the past, I have purely done Lectio with scripture right in front of each person, no video, no music, no other media. I like this way of approaching the scripture because it engages many senses. I was able to listen to the music, read the scripture, and look at the pictures provided. John 1:1 is such an important verse that has lots of meaning. Through your video creation, it is apparent that you think the same. I agree with Cheryl, this meditation could definitely be used for a wide range of contexts. Thanks for what you have shared. Justin Daleiden | 29-oct-11 Those who have experienced the power of Lectio Divina Scripture meditation will appreciate this John 1 video/power point presentation. Imagine slowly reading the first few powerful words of John 1:1-5, repeating the words that impact you deeply, hearing others repeat words in the same way and then hearing another read further into the passage. Imagine the prayerful pauses as the words sink deeply into your heart. Imagine this process continuing until the entire passage has been read and deeply absorbed. Now imagine adding beautiful images and music to that experience. Now watch Jay Welshonse's video. He transfers the power of spoken Lectio Divina into written phrases and words on the screen. Beautiful and appropriate pictures underlie the words and illuminate their meaning. Especially moving are the pictures he has chosen to represent life and light. Music ties it all together. It is a deeply moving and worshipful experience. This video or power point could be used for meditation in Bible study settings, Sunday School classes, confirmation classes, retreats and worship services. Cheryl Davis | 04-feb-11 |
