Attached is curriculum for four sessions of teaching baptism throughout the liturgical seasons. Scriptural knowledge of water and baptism along with understanding of baptism found in Luther's Small Catechism are required for leading these sessions. The sessions focus on community, remembering, experiences, service, and an intergenerational activity. Although it is geared toward Sr. High Youth, it is adaptable for different age groups.

This is a Bible lesson from 1 Corinithians 12: 12-27 for late elementary and early middle school students but can be adapted for other age groups. It works best in a Vacation Bible School or camp setting.

This is an exploratory study seeking to document current practices of pre-baptismal education, in the context of specific local churches, to gain insight into what they are doing in this arena. It is the author’s intent to engage in an investigation of the general pre-baptismal experience within the Minneapolis and St. Paul synods of the ELCA and to examine a few specific expressions of this teaching moment. I believe, and the church teaches, that becoming a parent means entering into a calling from God to participate in God’s creative and redemptive activity through the raising of one’s children. However, many parents feel ill equipped to raise their children to respond to God. The literature in religious education suggest that pre-baptismal education is an important tool in the church’s ministry to reach out to and support parents, not only in their own faith journey, but also in assisting them in becoming the primary faith nurturers of their children.

This resource was written after having taken a confirmation class to see the movie "Luther." While they enjoyed the movie on some level, they were pretty clueless to the political, religious, and social scene of Luther's day. The guide provides that background information - and is suitable for youth and adults to review before seeing the film.
