Contribuciones Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 Discussion Questions (Disc 1) This is an attempt to continue the discussion questions for viewing the television series Battlestar Galactica. Following the pattern laid out by Ryan Torma, who wrote the discussion questions for season one, I have continued with season two-disc one. The questions are meant to be discussion starters for small groups following the viewing of the episodes. The questions deal with faith, politics, and all the other topics we are supposedly supposed to avoid! This aid is meant to be used in a variety of faith settings! Theological Reflection in Film Here is an exercise for theological reflection based on the film A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001). The format for theological reflection brings together culture, tradition (Scripture, Lutheran Confessions), the participant’s experiences and one’s own positions or convictions(here I reference a number of relevant ELCA social statements). (1) There are ten sections and each lists the scenes, a synopsis, and questions as well as further resources for reflection.

News diet handout This is a handout that helps to describe how to create a helpful news diet (of various media) within Christian communities. Dying a Wow Machinima Machinima is a new form of animation which uses images taken from video games in order to tell a story. One of the most popular games used today is WOW (World of Warcraft). At the time I wrote this which is about two years ago, machinima to my knowledge hadn't explored any type of religious experience.
X-fire had been doing yearly contests to promote its website and machinima. I entered my film into the two minute short contest. It didn't win but I had a lot of nice reviews.
Here is the first ever WOW machinima to touch on any religious ideas.
Thanks you to Brandon Dennis for her hardwork and gift of music.

Battlestar Galactica Season 1 Discussion Questions This set of discussion questions explores issues of faith, identity, and morality presented in the new Battlestar Galactica television mini-series and season one. (2003-2004). The questions were designed to be used in a group setting where the groups would gather to watch an episode and then use the questions as discussion starters following the episode. The original audience was a Christian faith community, but care was taken in the writing of the questions to not assume any particular faith on the part of the group participant. Media/sacred mapping exercise This is a description of an exercise that can be used in a variety of contexts to help people engage their definitions of "media" and "religion" (or "sacred") and to think about the roles media and religion play in their lives. |
