![]() Identifier: 12062326415 Backpack Blessings This blessing was shared at Calvary Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, as a way of celebrating and blessing the beginning of a new school year. At the close of the service, apples were given to all the Sunday School staff in the narthex and a "chex-mix" snack was given to all the children. It was a wonderful way to mark the beginning of the school year. Key Chains are purchase every year. The kids can clip them on their backpacks to remind them not only of God's love, but that their church family is keeping them in their prayers for a safe and fulfilling school year. Some of the ideas we've used: little plastic flip flops on a key chain that say "walk with Jesus." (they were kinda chinsy, Oriental Trading) Wooden Cross Wooden Fish Plastic Cross with church's name on it. Fish/Cross Carabineer(sp) Some kids have QUITE the collection of back pack hangers!!! We too have kids who look forward to it every year! One year, one of our members who is on the school board brought his sachel to be blessed! It's a really great way to start of the School Year!
