Purpose: This lesson will specifically target the events of the Lord’s Supper to create a learning environment geared for engaged thinking and allow the teacher a platform to initiate more robust conversation and critical thinking. The intended purpose is to expose students to textual analyses, how the scriptures applies to us, how we can connect with it and how we can think about it and investigate it for understanding. To motivate students into the idea of text analyses students will be exposed to a historical piece of art and reflect upon what the art portrays in its image. Based on this exposure, students will be linked to biblical text that the picture attempts to portray, which will lead to direct exposure with scripture and the opportunity to examine that scripture.

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to introduce the Books of the Bible, defining the different types of books that comprise the Bible and explaining how they are organized. Through song,(Books of the Bible Music by Anne Meredith-Will© 2005)participants will memorize the order of the books of the Bible, an important step towards Biblical literacy. Although this lesson is aimed at students who will be receiving their first Bibles at church, it can be adapted for use with any new students to the Bible.
