It is a very engaging exercise that caters to a variety of intellengences and learning styles. There is plenty of space for critical thinking and self guided discussion. It is a very practical activity in that it generates discussion about very real and pressing issue of faith and engages something which all youth find familar and can relate with. I can see this activity being a great potential spring board and or template for discussion on other complex social issues and how people of faith might engage them.

This is a well laid out piece using an excellent video on consumerism and environmental issues. It makes great use of engaging students on the thinking and feeling level as well as a chance to move around with the use of small groups. It has a lot of great example questions as well as a stated goal which would help form additional or different questions. This sets up a great structure for students to engage the material to explore their faith. This material does not tell you what those faith conclusions should be but suggests a few you might consider in preparation. The religious beliefs you want the students to explore will shape the questions you use in step 4 and 7. This can be a great piece to help students see how their beliefs apply to the current world. The video has been used in some school settings so some youth may already be familiar with it. It is still an effective tool to explore faith.
