It would probably be most appropriate for junior or senior high girls, but it would also work for a mixed gender group. 1 Corinthians 13 Bible Study Author: This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 License Reviews Reviews count: 1 - Average rating: 4.00 This is a good, simple Bible Study focusing on 1 Corinthians 13. It has a great flow with opening prayer, then ice breaker questions, and then moves into a fun activity. After the fun activity the group moves into reading the Bible and discussing the verses they have read, and then they relate what they have read to their current life. It ends with another activity that is more personal and reflective and then closes in prayer. I would recommend that learners also have the opportunity to pray aloud from the heart during the closing prayer. The study does a great job of incorporating multiple types of learning. Verbal learning is used as learners pray, listen to one another during discussion, and listen as the Bible verse is read aloud. Visual learning is used during the activity of drawing or making a collage related to the theme of the study. Logical learning is used in creating a list and ranking items and also evaluating and contrasting stories and the Bible verse. Interpersonal learning is obviously present during the discussion and intrapersonal learning is also available through the activity of each person writing their own personal love note. Having all of these learning options present enhances the Bible Study by making it more engaging, particularly to participants who have various learning styles. The study could be enhanced by adding a musical and/or a bodily learning option. Perhaps learners could listen to various love songs and analyze them according to the Bible verse. They could think of songs that they know and compare and contrast the lyrics of the songs with the Bible verse. An opening or closing sing-along to a song that fits the theme could also add to the study. Bodily learning could take the form of participants grouping together to make skits. Perhaps one group could represent a negative idea of love and another group could represent what they have learned love is from the Bible verse. I see this Bible study as being designed for High School aged youth…although it could be used for Jr. High age through adult learners. It might be easier for the discussion to have all females, however, this study could also be done with males or in mixed groups. Overall this is a great resource to print out and have ready to go for a Bible Study with very little to no preparation or modifications needed. Wendy Harman | 21 Dec 2009 |
