Bethel: Praise Service Liturgy
A common complaint that I would hear about Praise style worship was that It didn't contain liturgy. I set out to write a liturgy which would be fairly easy for the kids in my youth group to learn to play and sing. The kids have responded well, and it has been a great additon to our mid-week youth worship service. When combined with praise songs and a message the whole service lasts about half an hour. In addition to recordings of the liturgy, I have included lead sheets, and order of worship, and a written confession and absolution.

I like this contribution: Bethel: Praise Service Liturgy, for number of reasons. First of all this praise service gets at one of our number desires for our youth... helping them to become people of worship. So many of our youth these days are turned off to worship. We hear words such as, "it's boring", "it's too traditional", "I'm not getting anything out of it". On the other hand, we have contemporary services that sometimes lack depth, our Lutheran heritage and any type of liturgical framework. Matt's praise service is a welcoming educational model that is both engaging "youth friendly" and lifts up our Lutheran heritage and our liturgical style of worship. I appreciated the fact that Matt included all the handouts, as well as, the mp3s of the three different songs. Hearing the songs help me to visualize how this service would actually be played out. Lastly, I like the way the service is structured and I also like the fact that this service can be used in many other different settings as well as a midweek youth service . Other uses could be as follows: as an evening wrapup to a youth event, as an evening worship time at a youth lock-in, as a morning worship service at a camp or retreat center.
