Model & Template using TED Talks for Small Group Discussion and Discovery
This activity is focused on the goal of helping members of our faith community see God in the world around them. At Jacob's Well, we think God is pretty darn interested in this world, in us and in what we are thinking about and wrestling with. It is faithful and fruitful to grapple with big ideas together as a community of people who take God seriously. The hope for this exercise is that as we listen well and open up, we will hear God’s voice in the voices of one another sharing our questions, reactions, laughter and stories. By engaging some of the world’s most creative minds through these video, we just might have a chance to discover how God is already working around us in some very surprising ways.
Youth and Video Production
In the summer of 2009, I created an independent study at Luther Seminary that centered on two areas of interest and experience: working with youth and video production. This project was aptly named: "Youth and Video Production." I interviewed organizations in Minneapolis/St.Paul whose purpose focused on the empowering of youth through the means of media arts and video production. I hope to analyze and share this information with my colleagues in youth ministry who desire to see their youth experience growth in their awareness of self, faith, and how they interact and relate with others. I believe that these organizations can serve as an inspiration for a similar framework of youth empowerment, leadership development and community building in the context of faith and ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. This is a video compilation of those interviews.

Dying a Wow Machinima
Machinima is a new form of animation which uses images taken from video games in order to tell a story. One of the most popular games used today is WOW (World of Warcraft). At the time I wrote this which is about two years ago, machinima to my knowledge hadn't explored any type of religious experience.
X-fire had been doing yearly contests to promote its website and machinima. I entered my film into the two minute short contest. It didn't win but I had a lot of nice reviews.
Here is the first ever WOW machinima to touch on any religious ideas.

Yo Trabajo la Tierra
This is a 13-minute video meditation for personal and also group use. It is the story of a migrant farmworking family in the USA, working the sugar beet fields in the state of Michigan.
The video is intended to be viewed in an active way, with YOU making the meaning for yourself...."as the Spirit moves you,"...so to say.
I made "Yo Trabajo La Tierra" , "I Work The Land" because I wanted to put down my memories, images and sounds rounded in the dignity of everyday life, in the beautiful and powerful moment that is always Now.
